problem
Many users lose track of their subscriptions — from streaming services to utilities, software plans, and gym memberships. Hidden renewals, forgotten trials, and unclear billing cycles often lead to overspending and financial stress. Traditional banking apps don't provide a clear picture of recurring payments, making it difficult for users to understand where their money goes each month.
solution
I designed Subify to serve as a centralized, intelligent dashboard for all subscriptions. Key features include: - Automatic subscription detection: Seamless integration with bank accounts to identify recurring charges. -Smart reminders: Alerts before renewals or trials end. -Spending insights: Monthly summaries and category-based breakdowns. -Cancel/modify options: Guided steps to manage or discontinue subscriptions. The experience prioritizes clarity, control, and peace of mind.
Design Approach
For Subify, I adopted a data-driven design approach. I began with understanding how users perceive recurring payments and their mental model of “financial control.”
This led to:
A dashboard-first layout that surfaces the most important financial insights up front
A calm, minimal visual language to reduce anxiety around money
Clear typography hierarchy and color-coded categories for fast scanning
Micro-interactions that make financial data feel more approachable and less overwhelming
I also tested two navigation patterns — card-based vs. list-based — ultimately choosing a hybrid approach that improved task completion by 28%.
